Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will oversee the accounting functions and reporting of our production facility, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, managing cost accounting processes, and supporting the financial decision-making process. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with production teams to drive financial efficiency and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies. Generate ad-hoc and key performance indicator reports to assist management in strategic decision making.
- Cost Accounting: Oversee and manage cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation. Ensure accurate product costing and assist in the development of cost reduction initiatives.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing detailed financial analysis and insights related to production costs, labor, and overhead.
- Month End Closing: Participate in month end closing process, including journal entries and accounting. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to support decision-making.
- Inventory Management: Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to monitor inventory levels, conduct regular inventory counts, and resolve discrepancies.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and improve internal controls related to financial transactions and reporting. Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Audit & Compliance: Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting and production functions. Lead or support initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or production environment being beneficial. Experience in cost accounting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high-quality financial records.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based, with regular interaction with production floor teams.
- May require occasional travel to other company locations or to meet with external stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods such as month-end or year-end closing.
