We are seeking a commercially minded and proactive Legal Counsel to join our Legal team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Legal Counsel will provide legal support across a broad range of legal and commercial matters, ensuring the business operates in compliance with applicable laws while supporting the company’s strategic growth.

This role offers hands-on exposure to a wide variety of legal areas, including commercial contracts, intellectual property, retail and franchising, marketing and digital matters, compliance, and general corporate support within an international fashion environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial & Retail

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including distribution, agency, franchise, supplier, logistics, IT and service agreements.
• Support retail and franchise expansion, including review of lease agreements, side letters, amendments and assignments.
• Provide day-to-day legal advice to business stakeholders across Europe.
• Review and negotiate terms and conditions with wholesale clients, franchisees and distributors.

Intellectual Property

• Support brand protection strategy, including trademark registrations and enforcement.
• Monitor and follow up on reported IP infringements.
• Draft cease and desist letters and assist in dispute strategy and settlement discussions.
• Coordinate and manage external counsel across jurisdictions.

Marketing & Digital

• Advise on legal aspects of advertising campaigns, promotional materials, online competitions and influencer agreements.
• Draft and negotiate agreements with marketing agencies, PR agencies and creative providers.
• Advise on image rights, social media use and digital marketing compliance.
• Monitor advertising and consumer protection regulations.

Compliance & Regulatory

• Support compliance initiatives, risk assessments and internal audits.
• Provide advice on consumer law, product labeling, and retail/e-commerce regulations.
• Assist with data protection compliance matters.
• Monitor regulatory developments and prepare internal guidance notes.

Corporate & General Legal Support

• Provide general corporate legal assistance to group entities in the region.
• Liaise with finance and other departments on legal and compliance matters.
• Support litigation management and coordinate external counsel.
• Maintain contracts and disputes database and support legal budget control.

Sustainability

• Advise on legal aspects of sustainability and ESG-related obligations.
• Monitor relevant sustainability regulations and support internal implementation.

Profile & Qualifications:

• Qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction.
• 4-5 years of experience in private practice and/or in-house, ideally within FMCG, retail or fashion industry.
• Solid experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Exposure to intellectual property and marketing law matters.
• Strong business-oriented mindset with the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice.
• Fluent written and spoken English (working language). French, Spanish and/or Italian is a plus.
• International experience is desirable.
